Chill ’tis Friday with some Honeydew Sago

Let’s chill this Friday with Mdm Cheng Geck Chau’s Honeydew sago dessert. A simple dessert recipe that cools the soul and mind! Mdm Cheng’s reminds us to make sure that the honeydew is sweet otherwise everything else will fall apart!

Preparation Time:  20 mins | Cook Time: 15 mins | Total Time: 35 mins

  • ½ Honeydew (½蜜瓜)
  • 1 Rock Melon (1哈密瓜)
  • 200g small Sago (200克小西米)
  • 500ml sugar water, 200g sugar dissolve in 500ml hot water(500毫升糖油,混合200克糖和500毫升热水)
  • ½ can Carnation evaporated milk, for dessert (½罐三花淡奶,甜点)
  • 400ml coconut cream (400ml椰奶)
  • 1l Water (1升水)


Cooking Direction

Step 1: Cook sago (煮小西米)

In a pot with 1 litre of boiling water, add in sago and boil for 10 mins. Switch off the fire, cover the lid, and let it continue to cook for 5 mins. Once the sago have become transparent, remove the sago using a sieve and submerge it into a bowl of room temperature water. Rinse it for 3 times. Let cool, set aside.


Step 2: Shape the melon 准备密瓜球)

Use the carving tool and carve the melons into balls. Set aside.


Step 3: Assemble and ready to eat! 把所有的材料倒入锅里,即可享用!)

In a pot, pour in Sago, melon, carnation milk, coconut milk, water 500ml, 100ml of sugar water, mix well. Adjust sweetness with more sugar water. Top it up with ice and ready to eat.

(把西米,密瓜球,淡奶,椰奶, 500毫升水, 100毫升糖油,倒入锅里拌匀。倒入冰块,即可享用!)
