Chicken Rice Pretz
This merchandise combines two popular elements of the Singaporean life and food: a favourite childhood snack and Hainanese chicken rice!
You may recognize Pretz as a popular snack kids love to have to after school at a nearby provision shop. Pretz is one of Glico’s longest-standing brands lauched in 1963! These addictive biscuit sticks come in a variety of delicious savoury flavours such as BBQ and Tomato.
Wee Nam Kee is one of the famous Singaporean restaurants that takes great pride in serving Singapore’s National Dish; the Hainanese Chicken Rice. Founded in 1987, Wee Nam Kee uses only the freshest ingredients and has an uncompromising commitment to quality. This dedication gained its reputation locally and globally for one of the best tasting chicken rice in Singapore.
Hence, this partnership sees the iconic crispy biscuit sticks elevated with the authentic taste and flavour of award-winning Hainanese chicken rice that makes for a perfect Singaporean snack!
To try a box, you can purchase one for yourself at local supermarkts, Cheers, Don Don Donki outlets, Foodpanda, or Shopee for $1.60. They are also available in SFF Boxes if you have purchased one!
Passion Gao Siew Dai
For those who have a pas
sion for alcoholic drinks, here’s a local flavoured beer for you!
Brewed by Brewerkz, the beer truly follows its namesake! It is “Gao” or heavy on the passion for food that built Singapore’s diverse food scene and “Siew Dai” or less sweet or light on the palate.
This fruity Hazy IPA has the tropical flavours of passionfruit and mango, followed by a bittersweet and tangy finish. A perfect representation of sunny island Singapore, the complexity of our culinary scene, and our everlasting passion for food!
The Passion Gao Siew Dai is available for purchase on Shopee, Berwerkz ecommerce store, and all Brewerkz outlet for $9.50 per can (330ml). You will also receive a can if you purchase a SFF Box!
Prawn Otah Cookie
While the Peranakans may not be the majority race in Singapore, its culture and food is one of the most predominant. Peranakan foods like otah otah and their various kuehs are very much part of the Singaporean diet. They are also some of the top recommended foods to try!
For this SFF 2020, the renowned bakery cafe Cedele seeks to celebrate and promote Peranakan culture to inspire and intrigue overseas friends and locals. Hence, they have created a savoury cookie packed with traditional nyonya flavours and spices of the Prawn Otah! We think this fusion cookie is a great way to introduce someone to the rich flavours of Peranakan food!
With a rich blend of local spices like chili and dried prawns, this cookie is a huge explosion of flavour.
Each box is sold at $9.80 and contains 10 cookies. You can purchase the boxes from 21st August at Cedele’s outlets or receive one in a SFF Box.
Sambal Bajak OR Goreng Chili
Keeping to the Pernakan theme, the Sambal Bajak and Goreng Chili, comes from the famous Peranakan chef herself- Violet Oon!
Violet is a renowned figure for Singaporean cooking, especially in Nyonya food. She has opened multiple Peranakan restaurants and written a few cookbooks. If you would like to check out some of her recipes, we have her Sambal Sotong, Devil’s Curry, Stir Fried Lady’s Fingers, and Har lok prawns right here.
Her signature Sambal Bajak is a spicy, chunky, chili relish flavoured with garlic, shallots, and belachan (feremented shrimp paste). This fiery sambal chili is the perfect condiment for meats and seafood to elevate its flavour.
For those who prefer a straightforward chili relish, the Goreng Chili is made with freshly chopped chilis and garlic in aromatic chili oil. It is perfect for pairing with rice or noodle dishes for a little spicy kick!
The Sambal Bajak ($19) and Goreng Chili ($17) are available for purchase on Shopee, the official Violet Oon website, and in all Violet Oon restaurants. You will also receive one if you purchase a SFF Box.
